DC's family friendly game portal, DC Beyond, has launched a new Green Lantern game called "Green Lantern: Emerald Adventures" that fans of all ages can play online for free.
Like many of these kinds of games, it is flash based and you may need to download the player that is needed in order for the game to load. Emerald Adventures puts you in control of Hal Jordan as he tries to rescue a princess from the evil clutches of Despero. Gameplay features both space warfare flying missions and ground based 3D platform action, and an xp system allows you to power up Hal and give him more constructs to choose from during his ground based missions when you encounter the save points disguised as portals to Oa.
I found the game a little frustrating at first, since I'm not too handy with navigating with arrow keys and the screen is pretty small. That is until I discovered that I could right-click on the screen and turn the game into a full screen experience, a detail that would have been nice to know about before I nearly lost my eyesight! And to top it off the game can be toggled so you can play in 3D! If you're lacking a pair of 3D glassed, the Guardians have included a download that you can print out, tape red and blue mylar to, and make your own Green Lantern 3D mask.
It's a fun little game and something to tide us over while we wait for the "Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters" and "DC Universe Online" games. To play the game click here.
