Green Lantern: Emerald Knights Includes Sinestro Corps

Hal Jordan as voiced by Nathan Fillion
Included with the new All Star Superman animated feature is a short preview of the upcoming Green Lantern: Emerald Knights feature that comes out in June.  While most of the character designs appear to be taken almost straight from Green Lantern: First Flight, there were a number of still images and clips of all new characters that are included in the movie.  Among them were images of Mogo and  a shot of the Sinestro Corps shown below.

This just makes me want a Sinestro Corps War movie all the more.

Also show was some footage and images of Abin Sur appearing more like he has been shown in comic, but there were also some images of him as he appeared in First Flight, and combined with the fact that the preview was created in 2010 it could be that the final designs to be used in the film had not yet been finalized when it was put together.

The preview did confirm that the short stories that make up the movie are tied together by a larger story which serves as the glue to give them a common purpose.  The catalyst for the stories revolves around a conflict between the Green Lantern Corps and Krona with the stories being shared amongst the Corps and new recruit Arisia on the eve of a confrontation with the creator of the multiverse.  Some of the stories will focus on Abin Sur, Sinestro, Kilowog, and Mogo in an adaptation of the short story "Mogo Doesn't Socialize" by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons.

The voice acting appears to be great, but I do have some reservations about Henry Rollins as Kilowog.   He just doesn't have a voice that I would connect with the Wog at all - just not deep or commanding enough from what they showed.  Hopefully I will be proven wrong when the movie hits stores this June.

  1. I felt the same about Henry Rollins doing Kilowog. Something just didn't fit right with the two. I do hope it syncs better when it's released though. Dan DiDio has expressed his interest in a Sinestro Corps War animated feature and I hope we actually see that one come to life.
