Clips for Green Lantern Animated Series Episode "In Love and War"

The Cartoon Network has provided clips from the April 28th episode of Green Lantern: The Animated Series, "...In Love and War" and it looks like it's going to be another awesome episode!  Here's the description for the new episode, although the clips look as though the official description isn't completely accurate:

The Green Lanterns save a different type of Lantern from an invading space monster. Grateful for their rescue, the Star Sapphires, whose power comes from love, invite everyone to their homeworld. It turns out, however, that the whole thing was a set-up to drain the Lanterns’ power rings by encasing them in crystals.

Green Lantern: The Animated Series airs on the Cartoon Network Saturday mornings at 10am and is available for digital download from Amazon on Demand, iTunes, PSN and the Zune Marketplace on the Xbox 360.

First Look of Green Lantern From Upcoming Lego Video Game

Warner Brothers Interactive have been slowly releasing more and more details about the upcoming Lego Batman 2: DC Superheroes game and today they released a nice rendering of Hal Jordan as he looks all Lego-ized.  While Superman, Wonder Woman and Lex Luthor have also been announced to join Batman, Robin and the Joker in the game, there's no word if Sinestro will join the blocky fray.

According to the game's developer, TT Games, Green Lantern can fly and create constructs made of pure energy, generating anything including massive green fists and has the ability to construct unique Green Lego objects.

Animated Series Episode 8 Review "Fear Itself"

One of the things I've personally enjoyed about Green Lantern: The Animated Series is the way that the show's creators build in some nods to things like Star Trek or Lord of the Rings and so on.  This week's episode, "Fear Itself" feels like a classic Star Trek episode where the crew encounters two races at odds with each other and it's not clear who is right and who's wrong.  As the story unfolds we discover that everything isn't what it seems to be and in the end the two races are more alike than they thought.

Green Lantern Corps #8 Review

After last month's pause in the action and the emotional story of Kirrt's family in issue seven, the eighth issue of Green Lantern Corps launches into the "Alpha War" as John Stewart begins to face the consequences of his actions during the Keeper battle.  Writer Peter Tomasi takes this first issue of his next arc to lay the foundation for a story that is likely to be filled with all the drama and action we've come to expect from him.

In a new interview with Major Spoilers, DC Comics writer Gail Simone revealed some information about the top secret project that she and artist Ethan Van Sciver are working on - an original Green Lantern graphic novel.  While Gail doesn't give up much information about the new ninety page project she does indicate that the story will stand on its own, however it doesn't necessarilly mean that it's a part of the current continuity.  As Gail says, "this event could take place somewhere in time in the DCU".

Animated Series Episode 7 Review "Reckoning"

With episode seven of Green Lantern: The Animated Series we have the return of the greater underlying plot for the show's first season put squarely back into the limelight.  "Reckoning" brings with it a lot of drama and action that puts our protagonists face to face with their red ringed adversaries and the crew of the Interceptor don't make it out unscathed.

After weeks of observing the Red Lantern base ship, Shard, Razer seemingly turns his back on the crew and sabotages the Interceptor to rejoin Atrocitus and the Red Lanterns.  Razer's true goal is to rid the universe of Atrocitus but when his plan backfires it's up to the Green Lanterns to risk it all in order to save him.  In the mayhem we learn the origins of the Red Lanterns and the truth behind Razer's loss with the show ending on a solemn note with the revelation of the plans that Atrocitus has put in motion.

While there hasn't been a lot of Green Lantern news coming out of this weekend's C2E2 convention there have been a couple bits of news of note about the Green Lantern universe.  Among all the DC universe news is that when pressed for the Orange Lantern Oath Geoff Johns indicated that we'll be seeing much more from Larfleeze in the future.

Green Lantern 8 Review

We know that there a very big story on the horizon for the Green Lantern books but right now both Hal and Sinestro have a bit of a problem that goes by the name of the Indigo Tribe to deal with.  When last we read in issue seven both men were being held prisoner and Sinestro looked like he was about the get indoctrinated into the Tribe.  This issue takes us to the midway point in the "Secret of the Indigo Tribe" story arc and as one would expect, things are about to get a lot worse before they get any better.

DC Collectibles to Offer Exclusive Sinestro Bust

DC Entertainment released an announcement today that DC Direct is being relaunced as DC Collectibles and will feature an online portal to allow fans who don't have a local comic shop to purchase items directly from DC. The online presence will not only offer direct access to the products but will also offer exclusive items not available elsewhere including prints and collectibles.

Animated Series Episode 6 "Lost Planet" Review

I love how the creative team behind Green Lantern: The Animated Series has been able to boil down Green Lantern mythology to its essence and present stories which  not only provides the richness expected by those familiar with all the trappings of the Green Lantern universe and the accessibility needed for those who haven't earned their power rings yet.  It's no small feat but it's something I've come to expect from Warner Brothers animation and the most recent episode, "Lost Planet", is yet another example of taking the familiar and presenting it in an original way that even us gristled veterans can find something new in.

Red Lanterns #8 Review

It's no secret that I've felt that Red Lanterns has been a bit of a let down and I've made it a point to try to let it stand on its own merits and not color my opinion with my own preconceived notion of what the title should be by focusing on what it is.  I really felt that issue 7 was a step in the right direction and that the book had finally found a focus with the arrival of Rankorr and a brewing civil war.  Issue 8 adds another plot to the mix which could render the civil war a meaningless affair as the ghosts of Atrocitus' past comes back to haunt him in a most volatile way.

Major Green Lantern Event Coming Soon

There have been some subtle and not so subtle hints that there may something big brewing in the Green Lantern corner of the DC universe and we now have some confirmation that there is a major story coming this year.  Newsarama featured an interview with DC's Senior Vice President of Sales Bob Wayne was joined by DC's Vice President of Marketing John Cunningham in which Cunningham tells the site that there is something big enough coming from the creative teams that they expect a sizeable jump in sales for the books.

"When we look at the March numbers and see where we are on issue #7, after September, and the numbers continue to be as strong as they are, and in the cases of things like the "Night of the Owls" crossover, where we see sales numbers increasing right before the next Green Lantern storyline kicks off. And those numbers will go up." - DC's Vice President of Marketing John Cunningham
