Will Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters Escape the Movie Game Curse

For some reason video games tied to superhero films always end up more like Iron Man 2 than Batman: Arkham Asylum.  Yeah, I know the Batman games doesn't go with a movie and that's the point, there hasn't been a really good movie tie in game, period.  The Wolverine game was okay in some respects but it was mediocre at best.  Double Helix is hard at work finishing Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters and one of the staff at G4 got a hands on preview which instills hope that this game might just break the movie video game curse.

Double Helix is only developing the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game, so if you're a Nintendo fan realize that the version of the game for the Wii, DS and 3DS will not only look different, but will likely play different since they are being developed by a different studio, Griptonite Games.  The story for the game is written by Marv Wolfman and Ryan Reynolds is providing the voice of Hal Jordan.  From this preview the game seems to be in the God of War vein - which could be a very good thing, although I'll be honest in saying that I wish it was more like Batman: Arkham Asylum.

Green Lantern - Plasticman Review

I admit I was more than a little leery about buying the recently released "Green Lantern / Plasticman: Weapons of Mass Deception" one shot.  I really never "got" Plasticman.  But hey, this is written by comic book legend Marv Wolfman, no stranger to epic stories and Green Lantern for that matter, having written a small run of the character with Joe Staton back in the 1980's.  And the art is by Brent Anderson, often compared to Alex Ross and Neil Adams for his realism.  This guy's won both an Eisner and a Harvey award!  I love his work on Astro City.

So how bad could it be, right?  Right!?  Okay, well let's just say I've had to wait a week for this one to settle down in my head before I unleash on what it probably the worst comic I've read in a long, long, long, long time.  No amount of holiday cheer is going to make this any better.  This is the one book that forces me to break the promise I made myself to keep everything positive on this site and only talk about the good things.  But DC had the nerve to publish this stinking turd and charge us $4.99 for it so it deserves all the criticism it gets.
