Green Lantern fans have been chomping at the bit for some casting news about who is going to appear in the 2020 Green Lantern Corps film, and hopefully as a part of the Justice League films. While we still don’t have any idea of who is going to play who on the big screen a new rumor indicates that the Lethal Weapon analogy for the movie may need to be switched to more of a Three Musketeers approach.
The Latino Review today revealed that their sources are indicating that there will be no less than three Earth Green Lanterns in the film, namely Hal Jordan, John Stewart and Kyle Rayner. They go further on to say that Warner Brothers is interested in an older Hal Jordan and even name drop Matt Damon, which may be a hint considering his relationship with Ben Affleck. Both John and Kyle would be younger actors.
Last week CosmicBookNews also shared a number of rumors from their sources, namely that Matt Reeves, Duncan Jones and Rian Johnson have been approached about being involved in the production of Green Lantern Corps. CosmicBookNews has a dubious track record so many dismissed their recent article, however they totally nailed that Willem Dafoe was being approached for a role in Justice League makes the article considerably more believable.
I can’t say that I’m a fan of having three Earth GL’s onscreen nor of the idea of Hal being older, especially if anyone gets the idea that adapting “Emerald Twilight” is good source material. But these are nothing more than rumors at this point and it’s way too early to start gathering pitchforks.
