  1. In the discussion of the future of GL around 50 minutes onward, I agree that there are way too many Lanterns from Earth, and what made each Earth Lantern distinctive has been homogenized and everyone will take the backseat to the golden boy Hal once again. All the effort that Kyle made to master the emotional spectrum was lost and now he is just another GL again. John was a UV Lantern for all of 5 minutes. Guy was cool as a Red Lantern, but he is back to just being the angry ginger Lantern. Jessica was dealing with her anxiety and its hindrance in her ability to use her ring, but she overcame that and she is just another GL. Simon Baz is…uhm…Simon Baz (sorry, never really understood his character, why he needed to be created in the first place, or why I should care about him…always felt tacked on to me). So we have 6 GLs from Earth who have different costumes, slightly different personalities, but all the progression they made was pushed to the side and they are all relatively the same in terms of powers and abilities. With the Hal Jordan series finished and he being the main character in the new series, I doubt that the non-Hal characters will get any love for some time in the main series. Simon and Jessica are in their respective JL series, so good for them, I guess.

Kyle is my favorite Lantern and I was upset he made so much development and growth due to experience and effort to master the emotional spectrum, gain the power of the Life Equation, creating a new White Lantern corps (which everyone has already forgotten about)…and then Dr. Manhattan snaps his fingers and deletes all that. Oh well. Whatever. I was hoping the Doomsday Clock series was going to address why Doc Manhattan did that to Kyle, but it looks like it will never happen.
