While comics have been on a hiatus since the COVID-19 pandemic hit, a recent decision by DC Comics will have Green Lantern comics back on the stands early in May.  As comic shops made plans to offer services in a model where customers aren’t allowed into their shops, Diamond Comic Distributors plugged the plug on their own operations which prevented the distribution of any new product for stores to offer.  However, DC Comics made the decision to buck the system by using two new distribution companies, Lunar Distribution and UCS Comic Distributors. Lunar and UCS are the respective sister companies of Discount Comic Book Service (DCBS) and Midtown Comics, two of the largest mail order comic book retailers in the United States.  Lunar will reportedly handle distribution to the western half of North America, with UCS handling the eastern half.

According to DC’s plans, new books will be on sale starting April 28th at stores who work with one of the new distribution companies since Diamond does not plan to resume services until some time in Mid-to-Late May.  DC is also changing “New Comic Book Day” from Wednesday to Tuesday under their new distribution plans.

For now, the current revised (and limited) release schedule for both print and digital comics is as follows:

Tuesday, April 28
Daphne Byrne #4
The Dreaming #20
Batman Giant #4
Batman #89 (reprint)
Nightwing #70 (reprint)
