In today’s earlier news about the two-month “Future State” event, Geoffrey Thorne was listed as one of the writer’s of the Future State: Green Lantern books.  Since then comic readers have been trying to piece together information about the characters included in the event’s promotional image. Thorne has confirmed that one character, the man with the energy sword and pistol, is none other than John Stewart.  Thorne has recently stated on Twitter, “You have NEVER seen John Stewart like this. I cannot believe what they’re letting us do.”

This likely ties into the fact that the central power battery has gone dark in this version of the future and John is left to his own devices to carve out his life post-power ring.  “Future State” is set to take over DC Comics in January and February of 2021.
